Last Monday Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs was seen around the Cupertino campus for the first time since January. Today, the company released a statement that officially announced Mr. Jobs is back at work following a brief period of medical leave.

Steve Dowling, a spokesman for Apple, made the announcement to Bloomberg.com that his boss was back in action.

“Steve is back at work. We are very glad to have him back.”

This is great news for Apple and its legion of fans, as well as for the tech industry at large. Apple's history of innovation is due in no small part to Jobs' vision and drive. Mr. Jobs has been a big part of the consumer electronics industry since its early days, and his return to work is a good thing for all of us.

Welcome back, Steve. We've missed you.
