While the iPhone Dev Team delayed the release of jailbreak tools, the original iPhone hacker George Hotz jumped the gun and released his own iPhone 3GS jailbreaking tools today, dubbed purplera1n.
Purplera1n is currently only available on Windows. This jailbreaking tool for the iPhone 3GS is still beta, so proceed with caution and lots of backing up.
George Hotz makes it sound like the iPhone OS is like swiss cheese - lots of holes to get in. He is not seeing the need to be strategic and wait for the iPhone 3.1 release.
