It's no secret that TomTom for iPhone is one of the most heavily anticipated iPhone apps in development right now. Turn-by-turn voice GPS from a company as well-known and trusted as TomTom is something a lot of iPhone users have been waiting for. And they won't have to wait long. AppleInsider says that TomTom will hit the app store later this summer.
We've also learned a few things about the TomTom iPhone car kit, which does a lot more than just hold the iPhone up. It has its own GPS system, which the company says is way better than the one the iPhone mounts. It's also got a dedicated speaker, which should make your iPhone easier to understand over the din of traffic.
The device also has several sets of maps saved inside of it, so that it can update your phone with new maps and route changes while the two are charging. It'll apparently be able to download regular updates without use of the 3G network.
