Today we have a new piece of evidence in favor of an upcoming Apple tablet. AppleInsider reports that a research note issued by Kaufman Bros announced that Apple has purchased multiple screens in various sizes over the past two years. Screens of 4, 7, 9, 10, and 12” were all purchased, some of them in great enough quantity to suggest a limited production run.
Based on this information, Kaufman Bros predict that Apple will release one or more new devices in early 2010. They list netbooks and tablets as two potential new devices.
Of course, these screens could mean anything. Apple could have tested the idea of making a tablet and given up. They could be working on a netbook, smaller MacBook, or some other touchscreen product. Or, this could be the proof of an iTablet in development that we've been looking for. It's no smoking gun, but it definitely lends some much-needed credence to the rumors.
