The rumor stems from a page on Canada's Rogers Wireless that shows an 8GB iPhone 3GS. Here is the catch that makes me think this rumor is not accurate. Apple has been peddling the iPhone 3G to other carriers around the world since it lets exclusive partners only sell the 3GS.
That would mean all the legwork that was done will be for naught as the 3G goes the way of the dodo. I don’t see the effort going into finding the partners if all Apple was going to do was deplete iPhone 3G stock and then go to a $99 3GS. I bet the 3G will stick around.
