If you are a couch potato, the i.TV app could be the greatest advancement your lifestyle has seen since the invention of the remote control. A new version of this absolutely free, laziness-enhancing application is about to hit the App Store. Boy Genius has had a chance to fool around with it and speaks highly of i.TV 2.0, which should pass the approval stage and become available any day now.
The i.TV app allows users to check out local TV schedules, reviews, and nearby theater show times. It also lets you purchase tickets, manage your Netflix queue, and stream trailers. 2.0 comes with some shiny new features as well, including an updated UI, iTunes integration, push notifications, and universal remote function. Right now that function only works for TiVo HD and TiVO HD XL, but i.TV is working on getting it ready for more devices as we speak.
You can check out the i.TV website here to get a look at the 2.0 update and see when exactly it will launch. Assuming the App Store guys do their job, this should be available for download in a few days. Check out the video and feature list if you need something to tide you over until then.
