Monday saw the announcement of the first Nokia netbook. Now, if Digitimes is correct (and when aren't they?), we're not far away from a second netbook launch from the world's #1 mobile manufacturer.
Nokia's next project appears to be an ARM-based smartbook. Either Foxconn or Compal Electronics are expected to be contracted to build the new netbook, which is expected to hit in mid-2010. Gizmodo expects this new smartbook to run on the Maemo 5 OS, since ARM processors do not support Windows.
Interestingly enough, this means that Linux distros or, dare I say, Android, are also (less likely) options for this new machine's OS. Which road will Nokia end up taking? That's something only time will tell. (But there's about a 90% chance Giz is right and we're looking at a Maemo 5 machine.)
