The Windows phones are coming. This October, Windows Mobile 6.5 hits the streets along with a whole bunch of new smartphones loaded and optimized for WinMo. HTC has announced today that their Touch2 handset will be one of those phones.
This new smartphone will make use of a bunch of new 6.5 features, like Microsoft My Phone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile. The Touch2 will also benefit from HTC's TouchFLO enhanced UI, in addition to Google Maps, Youtube, and other features. It also comes with Microsoft Exchange, which HTC promises will make it easier to manage multiple email accounts.
There is one spot of less-than-thrilling news. As a WinMo phone, the Touch2 will use (a re-designed version of) Internet Explorer Mobile. Like most geeks, whenever I hear the words "Internet Explorer" I instantly assume the worst. However, HTC promises us this revamped version of IEM will have Flash video support, and a bunch of new additions. For the time being, I'm willing to throw a 'cautious optimism' tag on this one.
