AT&T got quite a bit of heat for not supporting MMS when the iPhone 3.0 OS was released back in June. Now AT&T officially announced the launch of MMS for the iPhone on September 25th.
You actually need to update you iPhone as the MMS feature will get enabled through it. The update will be released on September 25th.
AT&T is defending the delay, saying that they needed to prepare the infrastructure to handle the gazillions of MMS you will send from your iPhone.
If the iPhone software update is only AT&T specific or rolled up in the upcoming iPhone 3.1 release is not clear yet.
