Palm today introduced the Palm Pixi phone. The Pixi marks the second smartphone running the new webOS. Formerly rumored as Palm Eos, the Palm Pixi features a compact with visible full keyboard.
Features of the Palm Pixi include 2.63-inch touch screen with 18-bit color 320x400px, 2MP camera, GPS, ambient light, accelerometer, and proximity sensors, 8GB Memory, Bluetooth, USB, and Dual-band CDMA2000, 3G: EvDO Rev A connectivity.
That's right, Wi-Fi is missing from the connectivity list making the Pixi a no go for me. 3G is just not available everywhere. For instance not in my house. So I surf the web via Wifi on my iPhone at home.
In addition to linking your information from Google, Facebook and Exchange ActiveSync, Palm Pixi adds Yahoo! and LinkedIn integration to Palm Synergy and assembles it all in a single view.
You can get your Yahoo! contacts, calendar and IM, and access to your LinkedIn contacts, including job titles. Synergy on Palm Pixi makes messaging easier by showing you all your conversations with the same person in one chat-style thread, so you can start a conversation on AIM Instant Messenger, Google Talk or Yahoo! Messenger and continue it by text message later.
For those who want to express themselves with some extra style, Palm is introducing the Palm Pixi Artist Series.
The Palm Pixi is still going to sell in time for the holidays for maybe below $100. The Palm Pre sells now for $149.99 on Sprint with contract.
