As reported California based electric car pioneer Tesla Motors opened its first continental Europe Dealership yesterday evening in Munich, Germany. I was at the fun opening and was able to at least sit in a Tesla Roadster Sport. It feels perfect. Tesla offered test drives in the passenger seat, but there were too many people that wanted to experience the silent super fast "zip, zip" acceleration.
Many guests were just having fun watching the test Tesla cars charging silently into traffic - including me.
The Tesla Store is located in the center of Munich near Viktualienmarkt. For some reason lots of gas guzzler sport cars drove by the store yesterday night burning a lot of rubber - electric drive envy?
Elon Musk was at the event and held a short speech. He pitched the Tesla Roadster as the enabler for electric mobility for the masses. If you buy one you help Tesla develop the Tesla Model S, the electric car supposed to be affordable by the masses.
Mr. Musk also mentioned the investment Daimler made in Tesla Motors and that they are working on Electric Smart Cars.
Next to the Tesla store is also Munich's first green power station provided by SWM (Munich City Utilities).
Overall the Tesla Motors Munich opening was a fun event. The only complain I heard was that there were no celebrities in attendance. I guess they will come to the store if they can afford a Tesla Roadster, because it is very sexy to "zip, zip".
