Keeping secrets is hard, HP, and we don't blame you for having trouble with it sometimes. In fact, it sort of makes our jobs a lot easier. Electronista reports that HP accidentally let slip some details about their upcoming Pavilion dv8 notebook during a technical brief.
The dv8 is going to be a media notebook through and through. It's the first 18.4-inch laptop to get an i7 processor (1.6 GHz in this case), and it starts with 4 GB of RAM (upgradeable to 8). It packs a GeForce GT230 graphics card, 1 GB of dedicated video memory, a 640 GB HD, and a Blu-Ray DVD player/DVD/RW. The speakers are Altec Lansings with an integrated subwoofer and Dolby home theater.
That's a monster of a machine! Price hasn't been announced yet, but I wouldn't expect the dv8 to be inexpensive. No release date has been given, but the OS it ships with is Win 7, which means on-or-after late October. More details should be leaking out presently.
