Like CES, the CEATEC show in Japan hands out awards for innovative products. The CEATEC 2009 Innovations Award got judged by a panel of U.S. Journalists.
The Grand Prix award went to Mirumo, a dual-screen mobile phone by Sharp, and Mr. Kanellos (Greentech Media) stated the reason for the selection was not only because the product realized an integration of telephone and IC chip but also generated a new level of technology.
So what is the Sharp Mirumo 934SH phone all about? Sharp announced the 934SH back in June and it is available on Softbank in Japan. The Mirumo has a 2nd large outside screen with only two colors. The screen can be customized to display different information. As simple as just a clock, but also crazy stuff like the UV intensity the Mirumo measures with the built-in UV sensor.
Other features of the Sharp Mirumo include 3-inch VGA screen, 8MP camera, IPX5/IPX7 waterproof, and microSD card slot.
