The 15K600 HDD spins at 15,000 RPM and has a 3.5-inch form factor for 33% more storage space compared to the previous generation drives. The drive is designed for high intensity environments and has a 64MB cache. The drive comes in 300GB, 450GB, and 600GB capacities.
The Ultrastar C15K147 has a 70% higher space efficiency compared to 3.5-inch HDDs. The 15,000 RPM drive allows OEMs and integrators to pack more drives into the same space. The drive also uses less power than similar 3.5-inch HDDs with a 50% savings compared to them. Both of the new HDDs have a 1.6 million hour MTBF rating. Both drives are shipping now.
