Holy hell, how's this for a Christmas present? If you ride on a Virgin America flight at any point in time between November 10th and January 15th, your trip will come with free WiFi. Well, free for you anyway. Google is footing the bill as a way of saying 'happy holidays!' and making everyone's winter trips a little more pleasant.
Google's blog has more information about the free WiFi, and about Virgin America flights. There's definitely a non-altruistic, profit-minded reason for Google to do this, but that doesn't make it any less awesome for the people who will benefit.
