New Gucci App Launched For iPhone

I write for the Internet for a living, which means I can go days at a time without needing to wear shoes, or even real pants. As I write this, I'm wearing comfortable pajamas and I see no reason to change this fact for several more hours. It's a wonderful, charmed existence I live, but there is a cost to this life of ease. I am almost completely ignorant about the world of fashion. Seriously.

Let me give you an example. This morning I checked my email and saw that Gucci had just released a new iPhone app. Being a reclusive creature of cyberspace, I had no idea who Gucci was. A quick, shouted conversation with the girl next door filled me in on the details; apparently they make really nice clothes.

And now they have an iPhone app too. Gucci today launched a free app for the iPhone and iPod touch, it's available right now on the App Store. This app gives you access to Mark Ronson and Frida Giannini's playlists. I don't know who either of those people are, but I assume they're either models or fashion designers.

The Gucci app also has a music streaming channel, as well as access to the Gucci Little Black Book city guide, which actually sounds kind of cool. In addition, the app gives you information on the latest fashion shows (presumably the ones involving Gucci) and news about new Gucci products. If you're someone with a fashion sense (AKA; not me) this sounds like a pretty cool free download.
