The big problem with many security systems is that you have to hire someone to run wires around your home or business to install the system and that can get very expensive. Not all security systems have wires though like the new setup Uniden is offering .

The company has a new wireless video surveillance system that uses 2.4GHz wireless technology for interference free connectivity, the line includes a 3.5-inch portable wireless video monitor, a 7-inch wireless video monitor, indoor/outdoor wireless cameras, and a compact wireless camera. The system can support one monitor and up to four cameras.

Uniden also announced new waterproof floating 2-way radios. The radios are built to JIS-7 standards and can be submersed in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The devices have a maximum range of 28 miles and allow for 6270 channel combinations. The wireless video system starts at $199.99 with a 3.5-inch monitor and a camera, and a bundle with a monitor and a pair of indoor/outdoor cameras sells for $299.99. Individual cams cost $99.99. The radios sell for $89.99 to $99.99.
