The new Tilera Tile-GX processors are aimed at the server market and boast 100-cores inside the single processor. The chips are targeted specifically at servers that execute web-related functions like indexing, search, and video search.
The chips are able to run OS' like Linux along with other common applications for web services. The chips can also serve as co-processors alongside an x86 CPU from Intel, AMD or other firms. The 100-core processors will sell for $400 to $1000 each in volume and will ship in early 2011.
