Creative's ZiiLabs released an optimized version of Android 1.6 for their Zii Plaszma devices.
Based on the Donut branch of Android Open Source Project, Android 1.6 takes full advantage
of the flexible media processing capabilities of the ZMS-05 media processing array. Developers and
OEMs can now leverage on the advanced graphics and media acceleration to deliver media-rich
mobile and embedded platforms.
The wide range of features supported on the Zii EGG enables developers and OEMs to take products to market quickly and efficiently that include multi-format HD video playback, HDTV output, accelerated OpenGL ES, capacitive touch screen, accelerated surface composting and audio, Wi-Fi, accelerometer and full-size SDHC card slot. The Android 1.6 release for the Zii EGG is available for immediate download to existing ZiiLABS developers.
The Zii Plaszma device and developer tools launched in August. Zii was in the news again this week as a Zii eBook Reader is supposed to be in the works.
