Holy hell, gaming has just reached a new milestone. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (CNet) has just shattered sales records across the board. Activision has already sent out a statement declaring it the "biggest entertainment launch in history." And no, that's not just hype.
In its first 5 days of sales, Modern Warfare 2 made around $550 million. That beats out the largest worldwide box office opening in history, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which "only" raked in $394 million. It also beats the U.S. Box Office record holder, the Dark Knight, which managed just $203.8 million.
Activision reports more than 4.2 million multiplayer hours logged during the first day alone, and 2.2 million unique gamers playing it on Xbox live on November 10th. Want to jump on board and take part in the biggest FPS in history? You can buy it now and get to playing as soon as the postman arrives.
