We reported already several times about the brewing price war between Walmart and Amazon. It all started in October when Walmart offered hot pre-release books at $10.
The price war continues to this day. Several times Walmart and Amazon beat each others early Black Friday offers.
The NY Times has today an interesting story that looks closer at the Walmart and Amazon price war.
Walmart is with over $400 billion sales much bigger than Amazon, which had $20 billion in sales last year, but e-commerce is growing at a fast pace.
Amazon owns a big piece of the online shopping market and Walmart wants to change that to protect its future.
This price war is great for us consumers. Amazon is a tough contender that moves very quickly. The Amazon Black Friday Deals week is an almost overwhelming online sales event. Amazon said to aim at meeting or beating the Black Friday offers of other retailers.
Walmart has of course also sales going on the Walmart.com site right now that will reach its first climax on Thanksgiving Day and on Cyber Monday. The Walmart Black Friday is still mostly an in-store event.
