The HTC Hero is a good smartphone with a great user interface. Many T-Mo customers were saddened when Sprint (and later Verizon) nabbed it instead of their carrier. Those folks need mourn no more. A job listing has aroused suspicion that a new version of the HTC Hero may be heading to the first Android carrier in the near future.
The job opening is for a, "Product Manager, Hero Handsets". There's really only one thing that can possibly mean. T-Mo wouldn't be looking for someone to manage the Hero if they weren't close to carrying it, and they wouldn't have made "Handsets" plural without good reason. It's possible that HTC is about to push out a heavily updated version of the Hero for T-Mo. And it seems likely that the first Hero to hit T-Mo won't be the last.
Could the Hero series of smartphones be to T-Mobile what 'Droid' is to Verizon; an umbrella under which a variety of different Android devices will fit? Or will the Hero strictly be one line of smartphones, each descended from the last in the same manner as the iPhone? Only time, and the filling of this job post, will tell for sure.
