The NYT Offers Cheap Netbook with 1yr Subscription

Buy Samsung Go from Amazon Cyber Monday and Black Friday Now

With the print publishing world fighting subscriber losses and higher production costs, it is looking for anything to lure subscribers to buy the publication. The New York Times has announced a new offer that will give those who buy a year's subscription a big discount on a Samsung Go Netbook.

The discount is for $100 off the netbook and the subscription is a digital version of the paper on the Times Reader 2.0. The subscription to Times Reader 2.0 for a year is very expensive at $179.90. At that price, I can see why subscribers are staying away from print publications.

The $100 off discount for the Samsung Go is priced at $279.99 at J&R after the $100 discount making the Go not that great of a deal either. You can buy netbooks with similar performance for less than that already. Big fail on this deal, the discounts are not great.
