The iPhone 2010, or iPhone 4G as we refer to it currently, is still pure speculation. There is only rumored evidence that Apple is testing a new iPhone, possibly on the Verizon 4G LTE network.
We can assume that Apple will be releasing an all new iPhone in 2010. The iPhone 3GS Apple introduced this year was a nice upgrade, but not an evolutionary step. The Android front is building up and the iPhone needs to step up its game in 2010.
According to Fortune, analyst Gene Munster from Piper Jaffray has issued his predictions for the iPhone 4G / 2010.
First off, he sees a 70% chance that Verizon will be offering the iPhone in 2010.
The iPhone battery is supposed to get a major upgrade and the iPhone would get an integrated RFID chip for digital wallet functionality.
Mr. Munster sees Apple continuing their blockade of Adobe Flash on the iPhone. He says this is a strategic move to not enable app developers to implement their apps in flash and offer it easily on all other smartphone platforms.
Well I hope Apple will soon change their mind on this, as for users the lack of Flash support hurts the web surfing experience on the iPhone.
Since the above predictions don't mention many iPhone features, here is what I would like to see in the iPhone.
The iPhone 2010 should get an AM-OLED screen. I saw some negative comments on this feature request in my earlier coverage of this. But I have seen the OLED screen on Samsung handsets and they are awesome. The Omnia II has a 3.7-inch OLED screen with 480x800px resolution. I want that on my future iPhone.
Of course a faster CPU is always nice and a front facing camera would be an interesting new addition to see if video conferencing will then take off.
The iPhone camera still has room for huge improvements. The Sony Ericsson Satio is currently offering a 12MP camera. I'm not saying that the iPhone needs a 12MP camera, but it should get to the point of recording HD video.
Post your iPhone 4G feature requests below in the comments.
Update March 30th, 2010:
New developments around the new iPhone 2010: The new iPhone could be dubbed iPhone HD and feature a huge 940x640px resolution. Also the Verizon iPhone Rumor gains on momentum.
