The evolution of the iPhone continues and it is expected that Apple will launch a new iPhone in 2010. The iPhone 3GS was basically just a speed improved iPhone 3G with some minor additions like the compass. A major new iPhone generation would be the logical next step to push back on the maturing Android competition.
Currently we refer to the 2010 iPhone as iPhone 4G.
MacRumors has published a new report that confirms field testing activity of a yet unknown iPhone device.
The moniker iPhone3,1 was spotted in access logs of an app for the San Francisco train system by PinchMedia.
In October we already reported about a rumor that Verizon and Apple are testing a new iPhone on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
If the iPhone will be actually available from other carriers besides AT&T in the US in 2010 is still unkown.
Many of the features I hoped to see in the iPhone 3GS did not materialize. The iPhone 4G will hopefully sport an OLED screen with more resolution than the current iPhone, longer battery life, FM tuner and a better camera.
More iPhone 4G Rumors.
