When I get up on Sunday morning I need three things. Bacon, eggs, and a nice heaping plate of smartphone rumors. I got my wish today, thanks to Android and Me. They've heard that the HTC Passion/Dragon, HTC's first Android 2.0 phone, will be available this holiday season.
I know what you're all saying; Evans, we've heard this rumor before a hundred times! What makes today different? How about an actual website for the HTC Passion. It shows the word "passion" next to a Verizon check mark. Underneath the logo are the words, "Coming holidays 2009". That's as much proof as we're likely to get until Verizon makes an official launch announcement.
The Passion/Dragon is rumored to be a 4.3" touchscreen, 1 GHz Snapdragon-packing monster of a mobile device. In essence, it's the HTC HD2 with Android 2.0 loaded onto it. Since the HD2 has gotten glowing hardware reviews since its launch, a version of it with an OS that works would be a real seller. If the Passion is all it's cracked up to be, I may be switching carriers this December.
