Nearly One Million Motorola Droids Sold?

It may not be able to brag near iPhone numbers, but the Motorola Droid is becoming a very successful smartphone in its own right. Boy Genius reports that nearly one million of the devices have been sold so far. Estimates vary from 700,000 to 800,000, but we do know that the Droid is getting close and selling even faster than anticipated. The last few weeks of holiday shopping are likely to push the droid over into 1,000,000 sold. Those numbers mean justification for Verizon's 100 million dollar advertising campaign, and salvation for Motorola. The handset developer had fallen on hard times in recent years. The Droid was a big gambit for them, one with the power to sink or save the company. Now it looks like that gamble has paid off with dividends.
