Apple has acquired LaLa, a music streaming service. There is no official statement from Apple or LaLa on this transaction, but Peter Kafka on AllThingsD has confirmed the acquisition rumors that popped up on the WSJ and other news outlets.
Apple may not even make an official announcement of this deal or its plans with it.
Lala was last in the news when Google launched their music search, which links to LaLa. What Apple is going to do with LaLa is unclear. iTunes needs to evolve to stay on top, but it is tricky to add a streaming service without cannibalizing on the core business of selling tracks.
