The march of solid state drive technology has taken a little bit longer to reach the Mac, but better late than never. Digitimes reports that Patriot Memory has just announced the release of their new Koin series of solid state drives. These new SSDs are built to work on the Apple Mac platform. They have a sequential read speed of up to 260 MB/s, and a sequential write speed of up to 180 MB/s. These drives feature a 64 MB DRAM cache. The model shown is a 256 GB SSD, and there may be other sizes coming as well. This is great news for Mac users. Ultraportable SSD MacBooks, anyone?
