Asus isn't the only company with a keyboard PC on the way. While their EEE Keyboard is a standalone gadget with a built-in monitor, the NorhTec Geko Surfboard (via Netbooked) is more designed to act as a media box. And for that purpose, it seems absolutely perfect. The Surfboard will be shown off at CES 2010 and will ship in early January 2010. This device is powered by a 1GHz Xcore86 processor. It packs 512 MB of RAM and can hook up to your TV or a monitor via a VGA or composite out ports. It can connect to the Internet via 10/100 LAN, 802.11b/g WiFi or 3G. It has 2x USB ports, a serial port, and headphone/mic ports. The Surfboard comes in Windows XP and Linux versions, and it can boot up from an SD/SDHC card. It has 2 SD slots, and a 2.5" IDE HDD.So this device is a computer contained within a keyboard. All you need to do to have the perfect media box is hook this baby up to your TV and plug it into your home network. The Linux version of the Surfboard costs just $99, while the XP version is $150.
