We've seen this before. The idea of a smart-watch is damnably pervasive. For one thing, it makes us think of James Bond. For another, it seems like the ultimate convenience gadget. No rooting around in pockets or worrying about how to carry a bulky phone when you're wearing a slinky dress or a full body Speedo suit. In practice, however, every smartwatch launched has either been prohibitively expensive or extremely limited in function. Will the CoolW008 all-in-one camera/phone/watch hybrid be able to break that barrier and turn the smart-watch into a practical gadget? Probably not. But since it comes from a Chinese manufacturer, we might be able to get it for really cheap and then show it off to our jealous friends. What else is new tech for?The COOLW008 is a GSM device with 850/900/1800/1900 MHz supported. It has a 1.3" screen and an "HD camera". It packs 506 kb of built in memory, but can handle up to 4 GB. The interface screenshots show that, yes, this device has some very limited video playback functionality. I can't imagine enjoying a whole film on this wee little screen, but at least it'll be possible to try.
