Nexus One: Already Rooted

For most major smartphone releases, the first successful rooting comes several weeks to several months after launch. Not so with the Nexus One. Engadget reports that Google's new smartphone has already been successfully rooted by a member of the Modaco forums. The successful hacker, an admin named Paul, posted an actual photo of his rooted phone along with a post-it note confirming his identity. First off, kudos to the folks at Modaco for cracking the Nexus One a week before launch. While it is unlikely that the rooting tool Paul created for this will work on the commercially released Nexus One, it should make cracking it a second time easier. For those of you who are curious (or who want to give it a try when you order your own) Paul has put a "superboot" file up on his site that should guide you through the experience. So, does anyone want to take bets on how long it'll take to crack the Nexus One when it launches? I'm putting my money on 'under a week'.
