Gamin has announced a cool new application at CES called Voice Studio. The free PC app allows the user of certain Gamin nav devices to record navigation prompts for use on their device. That means that instead of some generic voice telling you things on your GPS you can have your own voice.

I guess you could put your kids voice or your significant others voice on your PND as well. The app is available for download and requires an external mic for best quality. The app lets user's record dozens of phrases and edits them within the software.

Garmin also offers free icons in the Garmin Garage that coupled with the Voice Studio allow the user to customize their device. Voice Studio is compatible with all nuvi units except those in the 300 and 600 series. The software will not allow users to provide text-to-speech recordings.
