Sun Life Financials scored the biggest Super Bowl ad for 2010 with the purchase of the naming rights for the Dolphin Stadium in Florida.
According to the Boston.com, the Sun Life Stadium announcement is due today.
Update:
Sun Life Stadium Is Official
The change to Sun Life Stadium is supposed to be ready to go on January 31st for the NFL Pro Bowl game.
According to the Boston.com report, Sun Life pays $4m a year in a 5 year contract. Compared to a 30-second Super Bowl Ad that sells for about $2.5 million this sounds like a reasonable investment.
The name Sun Life Stadium will get major exposure during the Super Bowl coverage. If this will help sell Sun Life Financial service remains to be seen, but the name will become more popular. This is perfectly in sync with Sun Life's current advertising campaign in the United States.
The "Get to Know Sun Life" campaign has TV ads featuring two reps (the Sun Life Guys) that try for instance to convince KC and The Sunshine Band to change their name to KC and The Sun Life Band. Another mission of the Sun Life Guys is the convince Florida to change their state tag line to Sun Life State.

Just like last year, we will be featuring our Super Bowl for Geeks Guide for the Super Bowl 2010. Of course the Super Bowl for Geeks Guide is all about the Super Bowl Ads and not the game.
