Yet another overhaul is coming to Dell's Mini 10v platform. In addition to the new Intel Pine Trail processor, coming February customers will also have the option of choosing a Mini 10v equipped with a Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator. That allows the tiny netbook to handle the full HD videos that its dinky little Atom processor would normally be unable to handle.
Engadget reports that this new Dell netbook will cost $425. Not a bad price for an HD-ready netbook. Reviewers note that 1080p plays smoothly through the Broadcom accelerator, although the glossy screen makes picking the right viewing angle difficult at times.
The Mini 10v sports a 1.6 GHz Pinetrail processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 250 GB HDD. It runs Windows 7 starter edition and can handle around 6 hours of video playback on a full charge.
