Remember that photo of the iPad that leaked out right before the launch? Well there was a smartphone plugged into the tablet. Thanks to the picture's semi-unfocused quality, and the excitement over the iPad, no one paid the phone much mind. AppleInsider reports that this overlooked gadget might actually be the new fourth generation iPhone. This information comes from "people with an impeccable track record". If AppleInsider trusts this source that much, there's good reason to believe them.
The phone in the image lacks the iPhone's aluminium bezel. It is either made of black plastic or wrapped in a black plastic case. Whichever it is, this new iPhone doesn't look very much like its fore-bearers. Yet. AppleInsider has heard that this iPhone 4G will sport an A4 processor, similar if not identical to the one inside of the iPad. That would give the 4G a ton of speed and a solid battery life increase over the 3GS.
