The purpose of the offering is to allow the public to get access to the 3D specification and to allow companies interested in supporting the 3D specifications with products and other items access to the spec. the full 1.4z HDMI specification will be released shortly according to the licensing body.
When the full HDMI 1.4a specifications is published and available for download the 3D chunk available now will be updated. This brings us one step closer to 3D in the home. If you are buying a new TV soon, you had better be sure it's 3D ready.
