Scosche makes all sorts of gear for mobile phones, iPods, and iPhones. The company has pulled the wraps off its latest solar powered battery backup and charger for devices called the solBAT II. The device works with any handheld device that can be charged via a USB cable and has a two light indicator to show when the device is generating power from the sun.

The device can charge the iPhone, iPod, Blackberry or PSP devices and has an internal 1500mA battery with an output of 5V. The device ships with a windshields mount and a universal carabineer mount to make it easy to place in the sun for charging.

Scosche gave the devices to some doctors who traveled to Haiti to give aid after the earthquake so they could keep smartphones powered while in the field without reliable electricity. The solBAT II is available for purchase now for $29.99.
