This week all eyes are on Barcelona and the Mobile World Congress 2010. But the next major technology trade-show is in just two weeks, with CeBIT 2010 taking place Germany.
CeBIT lost a bit of the consumer appeal in the last couple of years. This year there are some new topics that try to cater to consumers and not just IT professionals.
CeBIT Sounds! is one such new topic. CeBIT Sounds! will combine music, business and a festival atmosphere.

It will bring together major record companies and small labels, media and brands, producers of music hardware and software, as well as numerous Internet companies. One of the key issues on the agenda will be the future of the international music industry. Consultations with major market players have already indicated a very positive response to 'CeBIT Sounds!'.

Besides CeBIT Sounds!, Connected Living is another highlight for consumers at the CeBIT 2010. Connected Living is a venue that demonstrates how software-based digital assistants can connect different appliances so that they work together; ultimately creating a single home network which controls all appliances at the touch of a button. A model house of the future, covering 400 square meters, will showcase an energy assistant that adjusts heating and lighting, a digital kitchen aid that helps residents maintain a healthy diet, and a health assistant that ensures everyone stays fit.

Next Level 3D is a new platform at CeBIT 2010 which explores stereoscopic 3D hardware and software solutions for cinema, home and office. The presentation will highlight how a diverse range of sectors - from architecture, the Arts, medical, automotive to education films - are currently using 3D. The program will also explore the marketing of 3D-enabled information and content at the point of sale.

Webciety is also back at the CeBIT 2010 and has been expanded and moved directly adjacent to the Internet & Mobile Solutions display category, where its innovative honeycomb concept symbolizes a "walk-in Internet" and spotlights both start-ups and established Internet firms. Webciety will also stage a conference that addresses timely Web 2.0 topics - including content management, e-commerce and Internet TV - and encourages the audience to participate.

CeBIT 2010 is opening on March 2nd and will last until the 6th.
At this point it is hard to say if any exciting new product announcement of global interest will be made at the CeBIT 2010.
