The NAS device is powered by an Intel Atom D510 dual-core processor at 1.66GHz. The device also has 1GB of RAM. Thecus also uses a dual DOM module that puts the system software on two chips inside the machine for continuous operation in the even the system software on one DOM is corrupted.
The device has dual LCDs that show a number of settings for the device. The 4200 also has a dual power feature to prevent power outage for the NAS during firmware updates. An internal battery lets the NAS continue operating to allow data to be written the drive if power goes out. The devices drive bays work with 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives and the device can have two RAID modes at once for security and performance.
