The cuts are part of a plan that will reportedly save Vodafone £1bn by next year. At the same time the 375 people are being shed, Vodafone says it will be looking for an additional 170 workers that will interact directly with customers. Presumably, that means sales agents.
The cuts are being made in back-end staff that supports the network. Vodafone has also said it will be hiring 50 graduates with its graduate programme out of 3,000 that applied for work. Not a good percentage of hiring.
