Samsung has just sent out a press release announcing the launch of a brand new e-Reader, Samsung's first such product. This reader has a 6” E-Ink display, supports e-pub, PDF/a, TXT, bmp, and JPG formats. It has built-in speakers and a headphone jack, for ease of text-to-speech use. There's also a built-in MP3 player.
The Samsung eReader has b/g WiFi, 2 GB of on board memory, and an SD slot capable of up to a 16 GB SD card. This new reader looks almost exactly like a gigantic grayscale Samsung smartpone. The top appears to slide up to reveal a bottom row of control buttons. The Samsung reader will be sold, starting this spring, for $299. Barnes & Noble will supply the eCommerce storefront for the reader, which will also have access to B&N's eBookstore.
