A chrome-designed LCD TV with full 1080p HD and a 4000:1 contrast ratio is not too hard to find. Finding one at under $400, though, is. And that's exactly what Sceptre, a focused consumer electronics manufacturer, has brought to the market.
The new line of TV sets has two HDMI ports as well as a USB connection. There is a 2ms response time and detachable neck/base.
Sceptre is not a highly familiar name in consumer tech. Most of their products are produced at low cost for big box department stores like Sears, Kmart, and Costco. Its new line of affordable HDTVs will hit those stores soon.
The TVs carry a list price of $399.
"When it comes to form and function, we, at Sceptre, like to push the industry envelope," said the company's vice president, Cathy Chou.
