Nothing says 'the freaking future' like foldable touchscreen displays. Go Rumors reports that Qualcomm has just filed a patent for a foldable, multipurpose device. This theoretical gadget will be able to unfold into a TV-like display, or fold up into a smartphone.
“...based on a current folding configuration of the device, the UI may be a panorama UI, a desktop UI, an application UI, a web browser UI, an alarm clock UI, a media player UI, or some other UI.”
So basically, this little gadget would be able to switch roles automatically based on how it was folded. Can you imagine a cooler product? One of the speculative drawings even diagrams a computer that would fold into an L shape, with the bottom-most fold automatically displaying a keyboard. Obviously, we're a good 5 years away from something like this being practical, but it's neat to see where Qualcomm sees the future taking us.
