NVIDIA says that the problems with the fans were fixed by reverting to the older 196.21 driver for all that were affected by the 196.75 drivers. NVIDIA has issued an apology to user who had an issue with the drivers and has announced that a new driver version is available that fixes the fan problems.
The new driver was posted yesterday and is version 197.13. The driver can be downloaded now and NVIDIA reports that it is working with its partners to fix any further unresolved issues.
