Well, it's finally happened. Cloned In China reports that Chinese manufacturer MTK has launched the first dual-core smartphone in history. This device is physically a clone of the HTC Diamond 2, although its actual specifications will differ greatly.
This phone sports the MTK6516 chipset. It has a 460 MHz ARM9 processor for system tasks, plus a 280 MHz ARM7 MODEM processor for the telephone itself. The display is 3.2", the OS is WinMo 6.5, and the RAM is 256 MB. There's 256 MB of ROM, a 3.2 MP camera, and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera. Oh, and WiFi.
MTK's monster phone sounds pretty great. No word on price yet, but this baby should be available through ChinaGrabber before too long.
