Carbon Motors is getting closer to shipping the E7 car tailored specifically for law enforcement. We first reported about Carbon Motors back in 2007.
The car start-up is still at it and unveiled today a big deal with BMW. BMW will supply Carbon Motors with advanced clean diesel engines, complete with cooling and exhaust gas systems, and automatic transmissions for the Carbon E7, the world’s first and only purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle – designed by law enforcement, exclusively for law enforcement.
ORF reports that the BMW engines for the Carbon Motors E7 are built in the BMW motors plant in Austria and that the order is for 240,000 motors. There is no word about the time period of the contract.
Carbon Motors surveyed 400 law enforcement agencies to collect what policemen actually want from the ideal police car. One of the requirements was apparently that it looks cool.
