DVR pioneer TiVo unveiled the new TiVo Premiere box early March generating a lot of excitement. The new TiVo Premiere features besides DVR and a new User Interface, internet media services like Amazon on Demand and Netflix.
TiVo also added a CableCard slot to the Premiere that lets get rid of your cable box.
I just finished reading the TiVo Premiere reviews of Engagdet, Gizmodo and CNET.
All three reviews have the same message of disappointment. For instance, the TiVo Premiere is experienced as slow and the UI is not completely updated. The TiVo Premiere is not a major step forward and CNET suggests that existing TiVo Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL do not need to upgrade.
Let’s hope TiVo can fix the software on Premiere soon to start getting better reviews.
The TiVo TCD746320 Premiere with 320GB HDD sells for $299.99 and will start shipping on March 28th.
The TiVo TCD748000 Premiere XL sells for $499.99 featuring a 1TB HDD and a premium remote.
