Best Buy plans to open its very first retail location in the United Kingdom this summer. It's the latest expansion for the #1 consumer electronics retailer in the world.
The Minnesota-based company employs 155,000 people and has locations in the US, Canada, China, Mexico, and, of all places, Turkey. There are over 1,150 stores under its purview, including some locations labeled under "Futureshop," which is what Best Buy stores are called in some non-US areas.
In May, that operation will finally expand to England, with a flagship store opening up to the east of London. It will be a massive 50,000-square-foot behemoth brick-and-mortar location.
Additional stores will follow in the suburban areas of Southampton, Mary Hill, Croydon, and Liverpool.
This move is due to Best Buy's acquisition of London-based Carphone Warehouse, which has a large brick-and-mortar presence in the country. Who knows where the giant yellow price tag will show up next?
