Apple has of course given an iPad to the most well known tech reviewers including Walter Mossberg and David Pogue. Overall the first batch of iPad reviews is very positive.
Mossberg's iPad review has a lot of 'I am impressed with...' phrases, but at the end he leaves it open if the iPad is a real challenger to the laptop or netbook.

David Pogue tested for instance video playback and found out that the iPad plays 12 hours continuous video on a single battery charge. This is longer than the 10 hours advertised. Mr. Pogue's verdict about the iPad: "The bottom line is that the iPad has been designed and built by a bunch of perfectionists. If you like the concept, you’ll love the machine. The only question is: Do you like the concept?"
